I find and study unusual signals from the Universe, from ultracool dwarf stars to supernovae and long-period radio transients. Based at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy, University of Sydney and CSIRO Space & Astronomy.

My work combines observational radio astronomy with large-scale data analysis. I use widefield surveys and targeted follow-up observations to discover and understand sources that change over time.

How we detected radio waves from an exceptionally cool brown dwarf.

I build Python pipelines, analyse large-scale datasets and develop statistical models to find unusual signals. My work combines practical software development with reproducible research and clear communication.
Developing data reduction and analysis workflows, from exploratory Jupyter notebooks to automated pipelines.
Building and deploying highly parallelised workflows to process terabyte-scale datasets and search petabyte-scale astronomical surveys.
Using statistical modelling, time-series analysis and anomaly detection to identify, classify and characterise rare signals in complex data.
Contributing bug fixes and tests to open-source analysis tools, and translating technical findings into visualisations, reports and teaching.
In practice. My open-source work includes fixes and tests for Astropy, astrolabsoftware and rm-lite, alongside alpha- and beta-testing of radio astronomy pipelines.
